| The
Beebe Farm is located in Baldwin County, Alabama (T2S, R3E,
all of Section 31, and parts of Sections 29 and 30). It consists
of about 1146 acres of land encompassing approximately 150
acres of pasture, 850 acres of longleaf pine forest, and 150
acres of hardwood bottomland in riparian zones. There are
15 springs on the property, one pond, two lakes, and over
a mile of Whitehouse Fork Creek, the western tributary of
upper Bay Minette Creek, which flows into the Mobile-Tensaw
Delta just north of Spanish Fort. The farm is located about
16 miles from downtown Mobile (as the crow flies) between
Spanish Fort and Bay Minette, along Whitehouse Fork Road (County
Rd. 40), which bisects the property. The property also fronts
Hurricane Road (County Rd. 138), and thus abuts the two primary
routes into Bay Minette from the south and west. The current
commute to downtown Mobile is slightly less than ½
hour.

| Within
the last five years, the property has been extensively renovated
and improved. Almost all of the fences on the property are
new. Over 20 miles of roads,
trails, and bridges have been
constructed. The old farmhouse has been completely restored.
Four new barns, numerous outbuildings, and animal shelters
have been constructed. The pastures all have new fences, plumbing
and water troughs. Numerous wildlife plots are in the woods,
several with viewing stands. A 15-year longleaf pine USDA
Conservation Reserve Program plan has been established on
about 30 acres, and we will soon restore all remaining plantation
pine stands to longleaf pine.
|
| The
farm is on the urban fringe of Mobile; the areas between Spanish
Fort and Bay Minette along AL 225, and between Bay Minette and
Loxley along AL 59, are growing very rapidly. The growth along
both state highways has extended in the last few years onto
the two main county roads in the immediate vicinity of the farm.
Now, a major golf course development is planned within four
miles of the property. DauerWalden will facilitate the intact
preservation of this unique, beautiful piece of rural farm property
just as this development pressure has reached our neighborhood.
